Secretary: Mr. Eduardo Del Pueyo Pérez and Mr. Roberto Suárez Santos
In March 2003 the CEOE's Executive Committee released a Statement on what is known as corporate social responsibility. That statement essentially sought to clarify discussion of the subject and reinforce the perception of the importance of business activity for social progress.
On these grounds, a specific CEOE working group, whose membership included companies and employers' organizations, defined common premises and monitored initiatives arising in this regard, primarily via the presence and participation in different institutions and forums on the subject.
The Corporate Social Responsibility Commission was created in the wake of the election of the new Board of Directors on 16 February 2006.
This Commission arose in a context of widespread implementation of such business initiatives and the proliferation of international, European, national and regional proposals with widely varying content and possible regulatory and institutional implications.
Its membership is unique, encompassing all the companies that have implemented ambitious CSR strategies in Spain, companies in the process of undertaking such practices and the most relevant industrial and regional organizations, reputed for their defence of the interests of small and medium sized enterprises.
As a result, the premises adopted by the Commission have acquired substantial specific weight in a wide variety of areas. The work performed reinforces business consensus around the initiatives undertaken based on widely shared criteria.
